The school environment

Halvorsminde Efterskole is located in Vendsyssel in Hjørring. At the school there are good and functional workshops and classrooms, state of the art wood shop, theatre hall, sports hall, fitness centre, beach volleyball court, football fields said in short, plenty of room and outside areas for school activities and having fun.

The Danish, Math and language classes are divided into levels to accommodate different abilities and goals. We offer the possibility of taking the Folkeskolens Afgangsprøve.

Here at Halvorsminde Efterskole we help each other, you are even expected to help keep the school clean, and everybody has a whole week helping out in the kitchen. In addition to the regular scheduled classes we have three educational trips: ski trip and trips with your Main Subject and Learning profile.

Combined classes

Storytelling, singing and gymnastics are common classes. The gymnastics year ends with a range of performances where everyone participates. It is mandatory for every student to participate in Danish, Math, English and social studies. Moreover, physics, geography and biology are mandatory for 9th graders. The students do not attend classes in History and Christianity – these topics are included in storytelling!

Who are the pupils?
Halvorsminde Efterskole takes up 120 pupils in the 9th and 10th grade - about an equal amount of boys and girls. We are the “big old” Grundtvigske Efterskole here in Vendsyssel –this offers both opportunities and of course commitment to traditions! We have pupils from families that do not know anything about life at an Efterskole and pupils from families who have attended Halvorsminde for several generations.
